Highlights from a Parish Council meeting held on 15th April, 2008.

  1. Resignation of Cllr Yvonne Bowling. The Council accepted, with regret, Cllr Bowling’s tender of resignation. The Chairman was asked to thank Yvonne, on behalf of the Council, for her hard work over five years of service to the community.

  2. Annual accounts. The internally audited end-of-year accounts were accepted. Arrangements were made to make them available for inspection by the public. They would be presented at the Annual Parish Council Meeting on 27th May.

  3. Financial contributions.  In response to a request from the Parochial Church Council, a donation of £100 towards maintenance costs of the graveyard was agreed.  A subscription (£500, to cover two years) to the parish News Letter was also agreed.

  4. Parish Plan: Greenstreet Improvement Project. Ideas produced by the consultant included measures to alleviate parking, especially in front of the Coop store, car parking bays at the Faversham end of London Road and the use of planters and bollards for visual enhancement. These were combined with further suggestions from the Steering Committee formed from representatives from both parish councils. The resulting sketches and diagrams would be on display at a Public Consultation on 3rd May. Public responses would be included in a report by the consultant. This would form the basis for prioritising proposals and seeking funding for implementation.

  5. Lynsted Footway, Phase 2. The owners of the three residences adjacent to the proposed new stretch of footway in Lynsted Lane had given their support and approval.  It was understood that KCC had the project on its budget for 2009/10.  The Parish Grant (ex Subsidiarity) fund would be retained to help expedite this much-needed measure.

  6. Road signs.  The vandalised signs at Cellar Hill and Cambridge Lane had at last been removed by Swale B C, after repeated notification. No date is given for their replacement, however.

  7. Partners and Communities Together.  A Parish Council member would attend the police-led PACT meeting on 1st May.
