Minutes of a Meeting of the Planning Committee held on Wednesday, 29th August 2007 at the Belle Friday Centre, London Road, Lynsted.
Members Present :
Councillors : R. Baxter ( Chairman ) H.F.Champion, A. Dawes, Y. Bowling.
1. Apologies for Absence.
Apologies for absence were received from: Cllr. T. English, due to family commitments and Cllr. J. Disney due to a prior commitment.
2. Minute Taker.
In the absence of the Clerk, Cllr. Dawes agreed to record the details of the meeting.
3. Short period of time set aside for members of the public to address the Planning Committee.
There were no members of the public in attendance.
4. Declaration of Interest.
There were no declarations of interest.
5. To confirm the minutes of the previous Planning Committee Meeting of 14th June 2007
Proposed, Cllr. Champion that the minutes be confirmed, seconded, Cllr. Dawes, it was unanimously agreed. The Chairman to sign the minutes.
6. Matters Arising.
SW/07/0603 – 17, St. Paul’s Court – there had been no response to the point regarding the additional door.
7. To consider the following planning applications.
- SW/07/0959 – Redevelopment of the site to provide 5 apartments and 5 off street parking spaces at 67 London Road, Teynham. This is an amended plan.
Proposed: Cllr Champion, that the amended plan had not addressed all the previous objections.
Seconded: Cllr Dawes and unanimously agreed.
A further letter would be sent as follows:
While we note the roof line and overall height is lowered, which has alleviated the massing, and one of the gable ends is replaced by a hipped end, we still feel that the cladding is excessive.
The parking is inadequate for modern practice.
The arrangements of windows with extra skylights and jumbled rooflines give an appearance which is out of keeping with the neighbouring buildings.
So, we maintain our objections.

- SW/07/0065 DRC at 3 Harnetts, Bogle, Lynsted Lane, Lynsted for crown lift of yew tree - noted
8. To review Swale Borough Council’s planning determinations.
- SW/07/0065 - 17, St Paul’s Court, erection of a rear conservatory – permission granted.
- TP/07/0037 - 9, The Vallance, Lynsted, for removal of dead wood and thinning out of an Oak tree by 20% - permission granted subject to conditions.
- TP/07/0040 - 9, The Vallance, Lynsted, for removal of one Horse Chestnut tree - permission granted, subject to conditions. There was a discussion regarding the wisdom of replacing a diseased tree with one of the same species, when the disease may affect the new tree.
- SW/04/0287 - The Fox Public House, London Road, Teynham for conversion into 4 separate flats (3x 2 beds and 1 x 1 bed) returned to the architect for redesigning.
9. Any Other Planning Business - for information only.
- DC/AVNSW/07/0017(Appeal) at 137-139 London Road, Teynham.
Refusal: Change of use from part residential and A1 use to a Class 3 fast food restaurant and storage use.
A resident has maintained his objection at appeal
There being no other business, the Chairman closed the meeting at 8.11pm.
