Lynsted with Kingsdown Parish Council.

Highlights form the meeting on 2nd November, 2004.

1.   New member.  The chairman, Tom English, warmly welcomed Cllr Lisa Candy to the Council.

2.   Code of Conduct. It was decided that the Clerk should complete an entry in the Register of Interests book, as do parish councillors.

3.   Kent Science Park.  It was agreed that the effect of the development likely to be associated with the proposed Park would adversely affect our parish as well as the area south of Sittingbourne. It was decided to write a letter of support to those parishes leading the opposition to the scheme.

4.   Swale Community Grant. To date there had been no qualifying application from parish-based groups, for the Swale community grant funding to be allocated by the Parish Council under ‘subsidiarity’ arrangements. It was decided, therefore, to use the funds directly for physical improvements around the parish. The Finance Committee would draw up a list of priorities.

5.   Publicising Councillors.  It was agreed that a photograph, contact details and main interests of the parish councillors should appear on the Parish council website: www.lkpc.org.uk . It was felt that parishioners should know more about those who represent them on the Parish Council.

6.   Flooded areas. The Parish council had been asked to identify areas in the parish that are prone to repeated flooding in wet weather. Note: Would anyone aware of such flooding problems in the Parish (Lynsted or Kingsdown) please contact the Clerk (ph. 522 653), giving details, as soon as possible?

7.   Parish Plan. It was agreed that funding should be applied for to proceed with producing a Parish Plan.

8.   Road naming. The name ‘St Pauls Court’ for the road passing through the new housing development at Stedlyn Retreat, had been agreed by Swale B C’s Faversham Area Committee.

9.   Planning.  The following applications had been discussed at Planning Committee meetings on 4th and 25th October:

  • SW/04/1201   Extension (studio) at Church Oast, Kingsdown.
  • SW/04/1078   Rear and side extensions at 6, London Road.
  • SW/04/1234 Agricultural building (house) at Greenacres, Norton.
  • SW/04 1249   Conservatory at rear of Bonds Cottages, Kingsdown.

Determination by Swale Borough Council:

SW/04/0614 Outline application for dwelling at Amethyst Nurseries, Lynsted Lane.  Approved.

10. Playing Fields.  A new water main is to be installed.

11. Allotments.  An additional key will be cut to allow access for authorised persons, through the locked gate, to the allotments.

12. Community Orchard. Local artist Will Glanfield, in association with pupils for Lynsted and Kingsdown School, had made steady progress on the carved wooden feature to act as the ‘focal point‘ for the orchard.

New gates are to be installed. These will be more convenient for those with mobility difficulties, parents with pushchairs, etc.

Full Minutes, once adopted, are available for Inspection at Teynham Library, and via the Clerk (by appointment, Ph 522 653). These, and other Parish Council information, can be viewed on this website.

The next meetings will be held on Tuesday 14th December in the Community Room, Lynsted Church. As always, members of the public are welcome to attend. Parishioners may make a short statement at the start of the meeting.
