Lynsted with Kingsdown Parish Council
Highlights from the meeting of 4th October, 2005.
1. Affordable Housing in the parish. It was becoming clear, from the Parish Plan and other surveys, that there was a real need for some Affordable Housing in the Parish, to help low-income families. English Rural Housing Association’s public open day on 20th September had attracted interest. The Parish Council was discussing with Swale Council to what extent the three AH units at St Paul’s Court (‘Stedlyn Retreat’) satisfied the need, and where any extra units could be situated.
2. Village of the Year Competition. The organisers and judges had expressed surprise that Lynsted was entered in only two categories in 2005. Should the village have a more ambitious attempt in future? See Newsletter article.
3. Footways:
- Between Berkeley House corner and the cemetery extension. The Parish Council had had talks with Millwood Designer Homes over the possibility of the company making a ‘goodwill’ contribution towards the creation of a footway on Lynsted Lane at this dangerous corner. Sadly, the company had written to say that this would not be possible at present, but the situation would be kept under review. The Parish Council will continue to press for some contribution.
- Between Bogle and the school. The Parish Council was pressing hard for the vegetation and soil to be cleared. At present mothers with pushchairs etc. had to move onto the road. This was dangerous, and unacceptable.
4. Planning. The following planning applications had been discussed at Planning Committee meetings on 25th July, 8th and 25th August:
- SW/05/0755 Two storey extension at Dadman’s Cottage, St Christopher’s Row. No objection.
- SW/05/1574 Amendments to Lynsted School plans. No objection.
- SW/05/0933 Proposed 3m extension to mast. Teynham Exchange, London Road. Objection on visual impact grounds.
- SW/05/0962. Extension at Tickham Farmhouse. No objection.
Swale BC determinations:
- SW/05/823. Mineral extraction, new conditions. Claxfield Farm. Allowed.
- SW/05/0518. Reinstatement of wall, Heathfield House, Ludgate Lane. Allowed.
- SW/05/0667. Replacement of window with door, Coach house, Aymers. Allowed.
- SW/05/0819. Horses use, erection of stable. Cellar Hill. Allowed.
- SW/05/0522. Extension and alterations. Jeffries, Claxfield Road. Allowed.
5. Loss of silver birch. The Tree Officer at Swale Borough Council would be asked for the reasons why a mature silver birch tree in Cellar Hill (a Conservation Area) had been removed.
6. Footpaths. The Parish Council was aware that blocked footpaths were a concern to residents. Parishioners could help by contacting the Clerk direct, if a problem is noted. She could then notify the appropriate authorities to have the matter dealt with.
7. Fire Service. The Parish Council had written to Kent Fire and Rescue Service seeking reassurance that the effectiveness of Teynham Fire Station would not decrease after the retirement of certain key staff.
NOTE. Full minutes, once signed and adopted, are available for inspection on this website, at Teynham Library, or, by appointment, via the Clerk (phone 522 653).
The next meeting will be on Tuesday 15th November at the Community Room Room, Lynsted Church. The meeting starts at 7.30pm.
Parish Council meetings are open to the public, who are warmly welcome to attend. Parishioners may make a brief oral statement at the beginning of the meeting.
R Baxter. Publicity Representative.
