The Parish Council supports a number of initiatives and projects that touch all our lives.

  8. Parish Plan: A new project that touches a wide range of interests is the development of our Parish Plan.  The process started with a public meeting on 27 April 2005 in the Community Hall and was formally launched on 25th March 2006.
  9. Village of the Year application   Results for 2006.
  10. Community Orchard bat survey: An important recent project promoted by the Community Orchard Group in the Parish Council was to survey the bats to be found across our Parish.  The survey has been completed, at least for 2005.  The data is being analysed, in association with Shirley Thompson and the Kent Bat Group.Visit the dedicated community orchard website.
  11. Millenium Hedge: The Council members are rightly proud that they supported the planting of the Millennium Hedge in Cambridge Lane with the very kind permission of the landowner. We include an account of that project to date, a species list and an account of uses to which those species can be putGallery of images.
  12. Blossom Days: in the orchard of Pip and Sue Neaves at the corner of Toll Lane and Lynsted Lane. We are very grateful to Pip and Sue for offering the use of their orchard each year.  The Orchard Group continues to develop the enjoyment of this important asset.   A welcome addition to suppport the Community Orchard is the development of a dedicated Community Orchard website.
  13. Tree Warden: Throughout the year, our Parish Tree Warden, Bob Baxter, supports Parish interests in maintaining our healthy stock of trees and the biodiversity of insect, flora and mammal life they support.
