Grant Success

Orchard Grant Success!

Funding (£20,684) now available to create a Community Orchard at Park Farm, Lynsted.

We are delighted to report that the Parish Council’s bid for funding to develop Park Farm Cherry Orchard for community use has been successful!

The Lottery Grant, via the Local Heritage Initiative, is to be used over a three year period for the following:

  • Improved access to the Orchard for pedestrians and cars
  • Wood sculpture, descriptive panels and seating
  • Research into the cherry-growing heritage of Lynsted
  • Exploration and study of orchard wildlife
  • A variety of community events.

The Parish Council is grateful to Pip and Sue Neaves for their enthusiastic willingness for this project to go ahead on their land, and also to Sally Evans, Mid Kent Downs Officer, and Chris Turner, for their help in preparing a successful application.

Please contact me (Ph. 01795 521 515) or Julie Barrett (Ph 01795 522 921) for further details about this exciting project – or with ideas about how the Orchard could best be used!

Bob Baxter,
Leader, Community Orchard Project.
