Community Post Office under threat.

Lynsted with Kingsdown Parish Council was extremely concerned to learn of the proposed closure of the Green Street Post Office in London Road , on 31st January. The post office is widely used by residents of our parish. The loss of this facility would be particularly hard on the frail and elderly without benefit of their own transport.  I wrote to the proprietor, Mr Stevens, to this effect, and asked if he would allow the post office facility to stay operational on his premises at least until an alternative venue could be found. 

I understand from the Post Office authorities, that they are keen to continue to have a post office in our area.  They are looking for an alternative site.

The Parish Council will be liaising with its Teynham colleagues to see that everything possible is done to retain a post office in our area.
