Sculpture/seat centrepiece for the Community Orchard successfully 'planted'.
Under conditions reminiscent of the Retreat from Moscow (squelching mud, low temperature, snow flurries - and who forgot the coffee?) wood artist Will Glanfield and his team of diggers and heavers assembled and installed the oak sculpture/seat on 26th January. The feature was positioned toward the north end of the open space in Park Farm Cherry Orchard. The structure will act as a 'focal point' for activities in this Community Orchard, as well as serving as a rest-point for walkers using the footpath, between Lynsted Park and the village, that runs through the orchard near this point. While they had their sleeves rolled up, the team also erected the new notice board near the main entrance to the orchard.
The next stage is the Official Opening of the oak feature. This will take place, at the centrepiece, at 10am on Monday 28th February, in the presence of the artist and the Primary School children. All parishioners are cordially invited!
